Rarity ranking answers a specific question: how unusual is this item's trait combination within its collection. Rarity Sniper answers it free, fast, across tens of thousands of collections.
Why rarity matters less than people assume
Trait rarity and market price correlate weakly outside a handful of collections where specific traits became culturally significant. Buyers pay for aesthetics, provenance, community and narrative at least as much as for statistical scarcity, and a mathematically rare item with unattractive traits frequently trades at the floor.
The methodology problem
Different formulas — trait-count, statistical rarity, harmonic scoring — produce meaningfully different rankings for the same item. Two rarity tools can disagree by hundreds of positions, which tells you the ranking is a convention rather than a fact.
What it is good for
Checking whether an item priced above the floor has any statistical justification for that premium, and integrating rank data into Discord communities or applications. Free, fast and adequate for both.
Who should use it
Buyers sanity-checking a premium price, and community operators wanting rank lookups. Treat the number as one weak input among several.
