The Cosmos ecosystem is dozens of sovereign chains connected by IBC, and using it requires a wallet that understands chain registries, denomination traces and channel routing. Keplr is that wallet, and it has been since 2020.
Staking and governance
Delegation is built in, with validator lists showing commission, voting power and uptime so users can avoid concentrating stake on the largest operators. Governance proposals appear in the wallet and can be voted on directly, which matters in an ecosystem where chain parameters are genuinely decided by token holders rather than by a foundation.
IBC in practice
Transfers between connected chains work natively, without bridges or wrapped assets, and Keplr handles the routing. That is the strongest cross-chain security model in production, and Keplr is the interface most users experience it through.
The rough edges
Transaction messages are shown in near-raw protocol form, which is accurate and hard for newcomers to parse. The wallet has added EVM support for Cosmos chains that offer it, but it is not a competitive general-purpose EVM wallet. And the ecosystem itself has contracted, which is context rather than criticism.
Who should use it
Anyone holding or staking Cosmos assets. Pair it with a hardware wallet for significant balances — Ledger support is available and works with IBC transfers and staking.
