Sentiment is real and measuring it is genuinely hard. Santiment scrapes social platforms, forums and news, constructs volume and polarity series, and has kept them running long enough to be back-testable, which is more than most attempts at this manage.
What it offers
Social volume, sentiment polarity, weighted social metrics, development activity from public repositories, and a set of on-chain metrics including holder distribution and exchange flows. Sanbase allows custom chart construction and alerting across these series.
The gaming problem
Engagement in crypto is manufactured at scale. Bot networks, paid campaigns and incentivised posting mean that a spike in social volume frequently reflects a marketing budget rather than genuine attention. Santiment applies filtering, and no filtering fully solves an adversarial problem. The most defensible use is contrarian: extreme positive sentiment at a local price high has historically been a better fade signal than a follow signal.
On-chain coverage
Thinner than the specialists. If on-chain analysis is your primary need, CryptoQuant or Glassnode are better; Santiment's distinctive value is the social layer.
Who should use it
Traders who want a sentiment overlay on technical or on-chain analysis, and who will use it as a crowd-positioning gauge rather than as a signal to follow. Paid plans from roughly $49 a month.
