The trade-off most buyers face is coverage versus openness — Ledger for chains, Trezor or BitBox for verifiability. OneKey is a serious attempt to remove it: open firmware, a secure element, and support for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cosmos, Tron and a long list beyond.
Product quality
The hardware is well made, with a large touchscreen, fingerprint unlock and both USB and air-gapped QR workflows. The software stack — desktop app, mobile app, browser extension — is unusually complete for a hardware vendor and works reliably, which matters more day to day than specification sheets.
The vendor question
OneKey is younger than the incumbents and an earlier model had a hardware vulnerability disclosed by researchers, which the company patched and acknowledged. Handled properly, but it is a shorter record to judge than Trezor's decade. For a device holding significant value over many years, vendor longevity is part of the security model.
Who should use it
Multi-chain users who want open firmware and are comfortable with a newer vendor. Anyone whose priority is the longest possible track record should choose Trezor or BitBox and accept narrower coverage.
